Micky Torpedo

Encounter the music of Micky Torpedo's Bird Songs and other offerings under the trees at Sinnissippi. Micky Torpedo is a multi instrumentalist music producer, composer, songwriter, and music educator from Rockford. He spent his early years touring the country with various bands and musical artists. More recently, focusing his creative energy on his music, his music studio (Underground Squirrel Studio) and his young family. His eclectic taste is present in the music he creates. Everything from rowdy rock and roll with bands like EVIL ZENITH, to his most recent solo release, Birdsongs, Vol 2 - Sounds of the Bell Bowl Prairie, a collaborative project with Sinnissippi Audubon that highlights endangered bird species that features compositions written for woodwinds, brass and strings. Micky is a huge fan of Somnium and is honored to be part of the 2024 event. He will perform a combination of birdsong compositions, along with his other solo work.

Long-Shot

Listen to the music of Long-Shot under the trees of Sinnissippi. Long-shot is a Rockford based band that plays rock ‘n’ roll, outlaw country and acoustic blues. They have released three albums of original music and have been playing their original songs, and some covers since 2010.

Somnium: The Book of the Forest Lament

Start your journey into the world of Somnium with a pop-up performance at the Prairie Pod. Somnium is a multimedia art festival that delves into the surrealist world of dreams through art installation, light projection, music, puppets and storytelling, dance, video, and flow arts. Combining the collaborative masterwork of artists from around the world, Somnium is a multi-sensory experience that transforms reality.

Instrument Making with David Stocker

Join SOMNIUM artist David Stocker for a fun and creative musical instrument-making workshop! In this engaging, hands-on class, participants will learn how to build simple musical instruments using everyday materials. By the end of the class, you'll have your very own handmade instrument to take home and play or play in the Somnium festival or production! Duration: 1 hour Class Size: Limited to the first 20 participants: first come, first served Anyone can attend.

Draw Your Forest Mini with SOMNIUM Artists

Join SOMNIUM artists for a unique and inspiring "Draw Your Forest" workshop, where participants will create their own vision of a future forest! In this one-hour session, participants will be guided through a fun and imaginative drawing activity, creating small drawings of what they think our future forests could look like. Following SOMNIUM, each participant’s drawing will be combined with others to form a collective vision of the future, showcasing the creativity and hopes of everyone involved. No prior drawing experience is necessary—all materials will be provided! Duration: 1 hour NOTE: Limited to the first 30 participants-- first come, first served. Anyone can Attend (no prior experience needed!)

DJ Largo and the After-Dark GLOW Dance

Get ready to light up the night at the After-Dark GLOW Dance Party with the electrifying DJ Largo! As the sun sets, bring the forest to life with glowing lights, energetic beats, and high-energy fun. Feel free to bring your own GLOW gear to shine bright in the dark but don't worru—we’ll provide glow sticks and accessories to help everyone join in the fun.

Student Music Shell Street Art Mural Dedication

Join us in the unveiling and celebration of the student-created street art mural behind the Sinnissippi Music Shell. High School art students were commissioned to work with SOMNIUM artist Eddaviel Montero to design and install a street art-style mural. The project was made possible by the generous support of Tony Gasparini.
