One would say it was the apocalypse making pee with a witch’s vagina. Inside the building was falling another kind of raining \u2014words; seemingly inspired by a drunk cem\u00ed:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0<\/em>Nan Chevalier paused suddenly, dumfounded by his speech deviation but, even more, by that perfect Victorian English accent. The attendants to the Extremophile Caribbean Congress couldn’t make head or tail of it. Three times his neurons had sparked.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0But, as if nothing had happened, he composed himself and went on:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00ab\u2014I was telling you that errrrr\u2026, representing Apeeeeec\u2026, I thank the organizers of this Congress for invade this university with good Alien ideas. He was babbling incoherent phrases about a supposed menace and invasion:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00abA pulp adventure is waiting for us; Martian invaders; QUISQUEYA not Britain; the Taino people needs us; not dressed up people; not cannibals; not Spaniards; not\u2026 ARGGGGG!!!\u00bb<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0A metallic snapping sound resonated across the whole hall.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0The tentacle holding the woman in the poster’s foreground, got rid of her, whipped out of its space time and caught the author of the paradoxically story: Invasion in the Silver Port. Panicked eyes saw his abducted figure shrinking as it was taking to the farthest ship hovering in the background of the illustration. Somebody cried: \u00abShit! The drawing it’s alive; ALIVE!!!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0And it was true. The burning boh\u00edos’ glow casted creepy shadows over the present reality. The attendants ran away, but a sudden resolution masked the writers and illustrators’ faces.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00abOk pals,\u00bb said Leorian [herald of Moro Studio Kingdom], \u00abit seems that the past is begging our super heroism.\u00bb<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00abYah, but only ours,\u00bb pointed Erick Mota [second Cuban writer] looking around the hall. \u00abOur allies are empty chairs.\u00bb<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00abDon’t forget coffee and water bottles,\u00bb added Manuel Antonio Gonz\u00e1les Cabrera [a freaky manufactured in the Cibao] nearing to a table to serve himself. \u00abIt’s getting damned hot here,\u00bb he remarked motioning to the poster’s fire, writhing in a 2D animation repetition.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0Markus E. Goth [writer and necromancer with a Zothique ID] stared at him surely thinking: A perfect sacrifice for Thasaidon!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0<\/em>\u00abThe fandom prefers to read fantastic adventures, not to be part of them,\u00bb sentenced Joel Morales [knight of the Mentes Fritas Films Order].<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00abCalm down people, we aren’t totally by our own,\u00bb intervened Eddaviel pointing to three ghostly figures \u2014holograms?\u2014 that appeared before the poster: H. G. Wells, the Taino warrior Caonab\u00f3, and Hugo Gernsback. They invited them to get close with a motion so perceptually confusing like a M. C. Escher’s engraving.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00abShit WHAT A TEAM!\u00bb desecrated an anonym the moment, even if everyone was convinced that Caonab\u00f3 approved the exclamation with a Caribbean smile.\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0At the foot of the portal, Eddaviel bowed in reverence before the three messengers coming from their respective hereafter.\u00a0 They spoke:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0H. G. WELLS: Your art unveiled me what not even my after death access to the fourth dimension did \u2014that Martians invaded Earth centuries before they did it in my imagination. But such invasion repeat itself ad infinitum in its own space time continuum, of which your poster, by a lucky chance, turned out to be a portal.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0HUGO GERNSBACK: By that reason, we confer to each one of you the Pulp Power in order to combat those maggots from the red planet. Go on and make their lives so miserable, that HELL be the only place left for them to invade. I’m sure your feat will be a unique AMAZING STORY.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0CAONAB\u00d3: The subject and information of your conferences, will turn out into super power once you set foot in Quisqueya’s soil back in 1492. Y ni \u00e9l lo pudo desconectar a tiempo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00abY dicen que este cacique afirm\u00f3 haber hablado con Yucahuguam\u00e1, quien le hab\u00eda dicho que cuanto despu\u00e9s de su muerte quedasen vivos, gozar\u00edan poco tiempo de su dominio, porque vendr\u00edan a su pa\u00eds unas gentes vestidas, que los habr\u00eda de dominar y matar y...\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2014\u00a1Nos sacamos la rifa de Guanajo con este hombre chico! \u2014exclam\u00f3 Yoss [escritor invitado cubano]\u2014. Primero citando el inicio de la novela La guerra de los mundos<\/em> con un ingl\u00e9s que ni H. G. Wells, y ahora... <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2014\u00a1ESO! \u2014el rostro de Odilius Vlak [escritor anfitri\u00f3n dominicano] era el de un emoji pensador de color negro\u2014, y ahora citando a fray Ram\u00f3n Pan\u00e9; la profec\u00eda de Cacibaquel, padre de Guarionex. No es que su cerebro sea un autob\u00fas escolar conducido por Freddy Krueger: alguien lo utiliza como m\u00e9dium, nos env\u00edan...<\/p>\n\n\n\n Un \u00ab\u00a1heyyy miren!\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nan avanzaba en trance directo hacia el afiche del congreso. Su escena, un yucayeque ta\u00edno atacado por tres naves espaciales, se proyect\u00f3 sobre la pared del fondo del Sal\u00f3n Apec de Cultura Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Boneti Burgos. Monologaba fragmentos esquizoides sobre una amenaza; una misi\u00f3n: <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00abUna historia pulp espera por nosotros; marcianos invasores; QUISQUEYA no Britania; \u00a1los ta\u00ednos nos necesitan; no es gente vestida, no can\u00edbales, no espa\u00f1oles, no... \u00a1arrrgggggg!\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n El ruido de un chasquido met\u00e1lico reverber\u00f3 en todo el sal\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n El tent\u00e1culo que sosten\u00eda la mujer en el primer plano del afiche, la liber\u00f3, azot\u00f3 fuera de su dimensi\u00f3n capturando al autor de la parad\u00f3jicamente prof\u00e9tica historia: \u00abInvasi\u00f3n en el Puerto de Plata\u00bb. Todos vieron su figura disminuirse mientras era abducido hacia la nave m\u00e1s alejada en el background<\/em> de la escena que, como alguien voce\u00f3: \u00ab\u00a1Guayyyy, ta vivita y coleando!\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n Y as\u00ed era. El resplandor del fuego que ard\u00eda sobre los boh\u00edos arroj\u00f3 creepy shadows<\/em> sobre la realidad presente. Los asistentes espantaron la mula <\/em>al tiempo que una repentina resoluci\u00f3n enmascar\u00f3 los rostros de cada uno de los invitados. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2014Bueno gente \u2014dijo Leorian [representante de Moro Studio Kingdom]\u2014. Todo parece que nuestra super heroicidad es reclamada ah\u00ed dentro. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2014Solo la nuestra por lo que veo \u2014coment\u00f3 Erick Mota [segundo escritor cubano] d\u00e1ndole un vistazo circular al sal\u00f3n\u2014, nuestros aliados son sillas vac\u00edas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2014Y el caf\u00e9 y las botellitas de agua \u2014agreg\u00f3 Manuel Antonio Gonz\u00e1les Cabrera [un freaky de factura cibae\u00f1a] acerc\u00e1ndose a la mesa para tomar una botella\u2014. Hace calor aqu\u00ed \u2014concluy\u00f3 haciendo un gesto al fuego del afiche que se retorc\u00eda en repetici\u00f3n de animaci\u00f3n 2D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Markus E. Goth [nigromante y escritor con c\u00e9dula serie Zothique] lo mir\u00f3 seguro pensando: co<\/em>\u00f1o qu\u00e9 cojones los de <\/em>este pana<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2014El fandom<\/em> prefiere leer historias fant\u00e1sticas, no ser parte de ellas \u2014sentenci\u00f3 Joel Morales [caballero de la Orden de Mentes Fritas Film].<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2014Igual no estamos abandonados del todo a nuestra suerte \u2014Eddaviel se\u00f1al\u00f3 tres figuras fantasmales, \u00bfhologramas?, que se proyectaron en el centro y ambas esquinas del afiche: H. G. Wells, Caonab\u00f3 y Hugo Gernsback. Lo invitaron a que se acercara con un gesto tan perceptualmente confuso como un grabado de M. C. Escher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2014\u00a1Mieeeerda, QU\u00c9 TRIO! \u2014profan\u00f3 un an\u00f3nimo el momento sagrado. Aunque todos juraron que Caonab\u00f3 lo aprob\u00f3 con una sonrisa bien Caribe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Al pie del portal, Eddaviel se inclinaba reverente ante los tres heraldos venidos desde sus respectivos m\u00e1s all\u00e1. De cada uno recibi\u00f3 un mandato:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2014H. G. Wells: tu arte me revel\u00f3 lo que ni siquiera mi acceso after<\/em> <\/em>death<\/em> a la cuarta dimensi\u00f3n: que los marcianos invadieron la tierra, literalmente, siglos antes de que lo hicieran en mi imaginaci\u00f3n. Pero esa invasi\u00f3n se repite ad infinitum<\/em> en su propio espacio tiempo, del cual tu afiche afortunadamente result\u00f3 ser un portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2014Hugo Gernsback: por tanto, le conferimos a todos ustedes el pulp<\/em> <\/em>p<\/em>ower<\/em> para que combatan esos bichos del planeta rojo.
