Somnium Art Camp is an intensive skill-building summer program for youth offered free of cost through the Rockford Area Arts Council. Students of the camp work with Somnium artists to learn and explore across a range of disciplines: visual art, animation, set design, creative writing, modern dance and flow arts, creating a collaborative multimedia work that is presented at a culminating student showcase

The creators of Somnium believe that youth are the future of the arts and it is essential to place the community at the heart of the creative process. In collaboration with the Rockford Area Arts Council’s SPARK! Build program, area high school students participate in a summer art intensive with the artists of Somnium. This program immerses students in every aspect of the Somnium creative process, offering hands-on experience in animation, creative writing, modern dance, muralism, production, prop design, sculpture, movement, and flow arts. Students’ contributions are showcased in the final production, providing them with valuable experience and exposure for their future portfolios.
